How a Toronto Teen Psychotherapist Overcame Her Fear of Video and Built Trust Online

I've had the pleasure of photographing many talented women in the psychotherapy, psychology, and wellness space over the years, and I'm always fascinated by the different specialties and areas of expertise they bring to their work.

Simone Grant is a psychotherapist and social worker who works exclusively with teenagers and their families, helping them navigate anxiety, depression, and many of the challenges facing young people today.

Like many professionals, Simone knows that people can't work with her if they don't know she exists. Building visibility, trust, and connection online has become an important part of growing her practice. When we first started planning her session, Simone admitted she was nervous about video. In fact, that's something I hear from almost every client. They know video can help potential clients get a sense of who they are, but getting in front of a camera can feel intimidating.

Together, we created a brand session that included both photography and a simple introductory video. My goal wasn't to make Simone sound scripted or polished. It was to help her come across the way she does in real life: warm, thoughtful, knowledgeable, and approachable.

We chose the beautiful Preto Loft Solarium for the session, using its natural light and clean, modern aesthetic to create images and video that feel both professional and welcoming.

I'm thrilled with the final result. More importantly, Simone now has a collection of photos and video clips that help future clients connect with her before they ever reach out.

Scroll through the images and watch the video below to see what we created together.
