The Second-Act Career Pivot: Toronto Personal Brand Session for an HR Consultant & Coach
Jo Ann Miele spent decades in the corporate world, working with complex international organizations. But for many professionals, there comes a time when the entrepreneurial spirit takes hold, and they decide to offer their years of expertise on their own terms.
Jo Ann has just made that exciting, and incredibly complex, pivot into her new role as an HR Consultant and Executive Coach.
The goal of this personal brand photo and video session was to showcase Jo Ann as an experienced leader with decades of expertise, while also revealing the engaging, approachable, and fun personality clients experience when they work with her one-on-one.
We carefully planned outfits and scenarios that would bring out every side of her brand, including:
Corporate suits that reflected her professionalism and authority.
Power words that hinted at her expertise and leadership.
Books and coaching-inspired elements that spoke to her new role.
Lifestyle images that felt warm, approachable, and authentic.
One of my favourite parts of the session started with Jo Ann's beloved jacket covered in unique patches. It was completely one of a kind and instantly communicated her playful personality.
We leaned into that side of her throughout the shoot. She was naturally drawn to hats, so we built a fun series around the idea of "wearing many hats." We photographed her with a variety of hats, including a playful hat toss that became one of my favourite moments from the day.
To round out her new brand library, we also filmed a short 40-second talk-to-camera introduction so she can confidently introduce herself to her new audience on her website and social media.
We photographed the session in two stunning spaces at Toronto's Mint Room Studios: the beautiful Kitchen Studio and the ever-popular Ballroom, giving us a wonderful variety of looks and backgrounds throughout the day.
